€ 3100 (official price in EU incl. VAT)

€ 500 EVF (required in bright sunlight)

€ 170 lens hood (required in bright sunlight & lens protection)

€ 50 battery (only 210 CIPA shots definitely requires a 2nd battery)

Sum : € 3820

At least to me this is a price level that has seriously to be considered. No intention to judge or classify such an investment but you better have some very good reasons to buy this cam.

Sorry I beg to differ the overall price of the RX1 is £2599 for us in the UK. All the others are additons that you can choose to buy IF you want to.

An EVF is not needed as much now the RX1 uses the extra pixel as they have on the RX100 and the screen is more than viewable in bright sunlight!

Lens Hood is just for certain conditions so not necessary to begin with and there will be plenty of cheaper non Sony ones, as for lens protection stick on a clear/UV filter far cheaper.

As for the 2nd battery thats such a small additonal cost it's irrelivent.

So a much more realistic price for us in the UK is £2635 for a Full frame camera in such a small body, nothing comes close or is currently comparable, thats what you are paying for! There is no point comparing this to a DSLR like the D600/D800 as they are totally different systems. Ultimatley if you want Full Frame quality in a small body you have to pay for it, only you can decide if it's worthwhile.

Personally I am pondering between this and a D600, you get a lot more camera with the Nikon but it's the size and with 2 young children I have a feeling the RX1 would be with me a hell of alot more.

Regarding children : I'm pretty sure that after a while you would regret having bought the RX1. The possibility of using a broad range of lenses together with a powerful external flash is more worth than just a small form factor.
