A few years ago my micro 4/3's gear was for special situations where I had lots of light and did not need fast focus. Now my Nikon gear is for special situations, my Leica M9 has been sold and my micro 4/3's gear is my everyday shooting equipment.

I use the D800 and mFT and I would say that I am essentially using the D800 in the role MF film used to play where a more deliberate type of shooting is used {landscape, architecture, astrophotography etc} the areas in which it excels . With mFT being the lightweight flexible go to kit, when convenience trumps all other factors. For video it is a no brainer mFT { GH2 at the moment} wins hands down , not just because the hacked GH2 delivers great results, unless it is tripod based or mounted on a crazy rig FF DSLR are just not ergonomically designed for video.

I thought Nikon has it sorted with their One system complementing the big SLR's. The AF performance of the One is especially suitable for a lightweight go to kit. Compared with these two systems, M4/3 is a bit neither here nor there, or perhaps for most users both here and there.

I have used the V1 with adapted FF lenses and the AF and general speed of the camera is great, the native lens choice is a bit weak at the moment. With the Sony RX100 performance I think the one inch sensor models could have real potential. It is obviously capable of very good results and it will be interesting to see where it goes. I actually think that for many scenarios mFT provides a very good balance between absolute image quality and weight, sure you can get better performance you have to be prepared to carry a lot more weight and bulk. Nothing is perfect and it is good to have as much choice as we do.

What is M4/3 doing better than all others? Video?

For myself the video on the GH2 is a big attraction , combine this with the best native selection of lenses and at the moment mFT suits my needs better.
