I believe this is just residual. I always cleaned my sensors myself and never had any scratches issues. on both my d700 an 5d2.
Though, I wasn't always attentive to which solution I would use and I believe I might have have affected the coating of the low pass filter making it less efficient with dust removal....
but never affected the picture at all.
my 5d3 seems to collect a lot less dust. so i didn't have to clean it yet.
