I came from a Canon 5Dii to Pentax K-5, and I have enjoyed the change. I think Pentax RAW files from the Sony sensors need less "cooking" in post, particularly skin tones. Pentax has a fun and compact lens lineup that I enjoy. You will note a major lag in AF selectability on Pentax coming from a 7D, but nothing you can't make work.

Thanks for the info. Do you mean selecting an AF point or how fast the pentax acquires focus?

I'm going to download some raws and play around later today.

Both actually.  The 7D is a good sports camera from a mid-level to lower Pro perspective, its not 1D series, but its very fast AF.  I have not used a K30 or K5II, but the K-5 is much more like the AF of the 5D series... only 11 AF points to choose from, and arranged in a kind of diamond pattern, sifferent world.
