ZD150mm for Concerts: Lens Magic (IMGS)

I shoot concerts whenever I can.  When I don't get a photo pass, I just use my LX3.  Works well.

But when I do get a pass to break out the big guns, I go crazy.  My preferred set-up is ZD35-100 on E-5 (for flexibility) and ZD12-60 or ZD150 on E-3 (depending on working distance and ability to move in the venue).

The ZD150mm is the least flexible lens of the bunch, but OMG, the results can be just over-the-top gorgeous.  At their best, they can have a distinct cinematic feel to them.

Yesterday I had the chance to shoot a special concert : it was a live performance (by the main actors and a bluegrass band) of the music that is the soundtrack of a GREAT new Belgian movie ("The Broken Circle Breakdown" : watch the Academy Awards in 2013 if there is any justice).

Music plays a very important part in that movie (trailer: http://vimeo.com/44103898)

The concert was just amazing and I had a blast photographing it.

(I still need to prune some stuff, but have a hard time deciding which is the best of similar photos)

A number of shots with the ZD35-100 on E-5 are quite OK, but my favourites of the show are almost all shot with the ZD150 on E-3.  Here are a few samples:

It's just amazing what that lens can achieve, wide open at F2.

As long as there is ANY kind of camera body around that can handle that lens, I will keep it.

C&C is welcome, as always.
