I own a 5D2 and banding has NEVER been an issue. Then again I usually expose correctly in-camera...or at least within a stop. IMO this whole banding thing is the most overblown (no pun intended) issue ever.

Seriously, I fail to see how it is the camera's fault that you mess an exposure up by 4 stops and then are annoyed that you can't fully recover.
