A99: Does the price point become rediculous for photographers?

Given the A99 is more expensive than the D800 (and by a fair degree) and ridiculously more expensive than the D600 then yes....I'd say for a photographer it's a non-starter.

I'd saved up for over a year to get the A99.  I'd then use my A77 as backup.  Reuse my existing Sony lenses.  Result!  Except it isn't.  Given the price differential I just couldn't justify it.  Right now the A77 body only is £749.  The A99 is £2299.  That's a pretty steep jump for the FF sensor.

Plus given the D800 is £1799 from Amazon and the D600 £1470, it simply doesn't make sense.  Personally I think the A99 sits inbetween the two Nikon's yet it is priced well above the D800.

I've got mint condition D700 now for my pro work but still take my A77 out for family days and hobby stuff.

If/when the A99 drops to a sensible level, I may reconsider. I do love the SLT design but the pricing simply makes no sense.
