Shooting tethered with Imac?

Wondering if anyone out there is using an Imac to shoot tethered with medium format? I currently shoot with a Hassy and a Leaf Valeo 22 back. My G5's are maxed out--can't get any more upgrades for photoshop etc...witihout the Intel processors.
Soooo....I'm trying to figure out a cost effective way to upgrade my 3 work stations without breaking the bank.
IMac are more affordable but can they process and move large files while shooting and then editing??
