Just for the record, I have WORN OUT 3 Epson 3000's in twelve years.  I have used generic, dirt cheap, the cheaper the better generic inks...from the earliest days.  I have had problems with clogged print heads....when I go too long without printing....when the inks are too old even if used frequently....EQUALLY both with Epson inks and generic.  I have NEVER had a color change or noticed a difference in print longevity.  For me, whatever problems I have experienced had EVERYTHING to do with my ignorance or laziness in the use andf care of a printer and NOTHING at all to do with any perceived or real difference between OEM and generics.  So....I don't have the faintest idea what you are talking about.

Do whatever you want.  But be prepared that others may have had (and continue to have) a completely different experience.

One thing that can be said with certainty: your post of your "experience" certainly dovetails well with Epson's marketing strategy.  I am sure that is just a coincidence.
