A99 AVCHD Vs HDMI capture to Atomos Ninja 2.

Has anyone compared the video quality from the A99 with native AVCHD capture vs HDMI output to a Atomos Ninja 2, if so- what were your findings?

People have been complaining lately of soft, unsharp video from the A99 and commenting on the AVCHD compression as the culprit- wanted to see if buying the Njnja was worth the $999.
