Totally agree, I do exactly the same.
Cheap adapter and Canon FD prime lenses are a perfect couple for NEX.
If you want to be more sure about sharpness, consider to use a Monopod that will act as Image stabilizer.
With this combo I can shoot in low light, wide aperture and 1/15 speed.
