PS: all posts are just my opinion!

It's just a personnal opinion.  Yes, either camera can take perfectly usable photos in decent light above the ISO's that I stated.  However, I have never particularly liked the noise introduced by the A700 in most photos when shooting above ISO-800, so I tended to avoid picking any ISO above 800 wherever possible.

With the A77, I am a little more relaxed about this and pushed my working maximum up to ISO-1600.

This is NOT an absolute statement about the high-ISO capabilities of either camera, it's just what I have found in practice.
