Hi
I am delighted with my Manfrotto 486 RC2 ballhead. I used to have an Arca-Swiss and I find the Manfrotto much better.
Two main things better on the Manfrotto:
1. The tension setting actually works and is very easy to use. I never had it working satisfactorily on the Arca-swiss.
2. The camera does not move at all when I lock the position. Not the slightest. And rock solid lock is achieved with an easy 1/3 of a turn.
I also find the RC4 plates better than the Arca-Swiss ones because it is almost impossible to unlock the camera by mistake.
I don't have a D800 yet, but I use it with equal pleasure with a Pentax K-5 and a Mamiya RZ 67.
