Voigtlander Nokton 35 1.4 vs. Konica Hexanon 50 1.4 (or 1.8)

Hi everyone,

New Nex-5n owner here! I'd really like to get my hands on a fast, small and relatively sharp lens for this camera. (Yes, I know, hard to get all three especially at a decent price; if I had to pick two first I'd go fast and sharp.)

I've done a fair bit of forum surfing and the Voigtlander Nokton Classic 35mm f/1.4 keeps coming up as a favorite choice for folks with similar desires. The Konica Hexanon AR 50mm f/1.4 (as well as its pancake 1.8 sibling) has gotten a few nods as well and has the benefit of being substantially cheaper.

So my question is simply this; how much better is the performance of the Voigtlander? Enough to justify a big (several hundred dollar) price difference?

I know these things are always subjective; my willingness to pay for a slight improvement in sharpness might be more/less than yours. Nevertheless, I'd really appreciate any advice you might be kind enough to offer.

Thanks all!

-DJ
