Help! The video files are so big!

I have the 60d and I don't do much video processing, but when I tried to burn my video files on to bluray, I noticed that I can only burn about 10min onto a 25Gb disc, which means that these files are way bigger than the normal off the shelf BD movies becuase they normally can fit 2 hrs of movie on a dual layered BD disc. I guess I need somekind of compression to fit about an hour onto the 25gb disc. Am I correct or is there something else?

If so, what would be a good compression software for my purposes? I currently have access to Corel Video studio Pro from a friend but when I looked thru the functions I couldn't find any compression functionality.
