Can Canon right angle finder be adapted to fit Nikon d800?

It's actually a Minolta right angle finder that I have used with my Canon 50d for a while now. It works just like the Canon model with the 1x and 2x switch. It's a real nice piece that I'd rather not have to switch out for Nikon if at all possible. On the Canon, when I slide the eyepiece off, the angle finder slides on the rectangular receptor on the viewfinder. I tried it on my friend's D300, but it's not big enough to fit that rectangluar eyepiece receiver.
Does anybody know of an adaptor that would screw on the D800 viewfinder and allow my old one to fit?
Thanks.
David
