SB-800 Nikon - Firmware - Odd EXIF data

I have two SB-800 speedlights. When using either of them, the EXIF data on my files indicates that the flash used was an SB-600. Does that matter? Or was there a firmware update for these flashes>
They went on sale in about 2003, so both of mine are obviously used.
