Nice shots! Looks like you are having fun with the camera. I asked that question on another GH3 thread as well, but how do you find the still image quality of GH3 vs E-M5? Do you think they are about on par in terms of noise and dynamic range?

I suspect they are the same or near enough not to be materially different. At high ISO in low light the GH3 is almost identical the E-M5. Oddly enough the output from the GH3 seems both sharper and slightly noisier at base iso (perhaps something to do with the AA filter?) anyway, the IQ is really good.

Have you compared any ISO 125 shots? Since this isn't base ISO I would assume that you give up a bit of DR to gain a bit less noise.

Pete

ISO 125 is extended ISO - base ISO is 200

Ummm...that's what I said, no? - that it "isn't base ISO". And the reason I suspect it isn't base ISO is that DR must fall a bit there. I was simply asking if you had compared them. Guess not...

I would like less sky noise for larger landscapes, and would be willing to trade off a bit of DR to get it at 125, and will check it out when (and if!) I get mine.

Thanks for sharing your observations.

Pete

Sorry - having another distracted moment trying to reply with a toddler attacking my leg at the time...

With apologies, you question is valid but I never really depart from native ISO on any of my cameras. You could achieve less sky noise than you see here easily in PP (I didn't clean it up as much as I could).
