I think these "DX is dead" and "FX is dead" predictions are made by either very short sighted people or websites trying to drum up hits.  Each of these formats serves a specific purpose and they really aren't going anywhere.

Yes, I wish the D600 was cheaper.  $2000 is still a lot of money.  However before this release what were our options?  A D700 and a 5D Mark II that were both more expensive.

Are D600 sales soft?  I don't know.  I can imagine that the hundred thousand dust on sensor threads have impacted sales but I can also imagine that the $100 price reduction and bundled goodies have impacted sales.  There have been signs recently that the dust issue will resolve itself and that Nikon might have a fix.  I'd expect the D600 and the D800 to be under quite a few trees this year.
