I'd probably wait for Kirk or RRS to come out with a Arca-compatible collar. I also expect inexpensive knock-off collars to show up on eBay as they have for the Canon lens.

Thanks for the response. With regard to third party collars I called Kirk today about this and they indicated they hadn't decided whether to make one. They indicated they would need to get the lens in with the collar and check it out to see whether it would be worth it. They said they would definitely make a mount for the Nikon collar to Arca. Even if they decide to supply a collar, it would seem like it would be a while before you could get one.

Note: I like Kirk and have their collars for the 300 f4 AFS and 80-200 f2.8 AFS lenses.
