How do you deal with the absence of the flip LCD screen?

Your statement of getting dirty, makes me think of Rattymouse's pictures with his X100 of the lights of Tokyo reflected in the very wet street.

He took that by lying down in the wet street to frame the shot.

Sometimes really good images require a bit of work.
