I read the article, and I don't see how it could be construed as "FX is fizzling".

I think once again Thom is being paraphrased loosely and then people take issue with this loose interpretation, not with what Thom actually said.

He's basically saying that 1) you shouldn't expect much from Nikon for FX in 2013 because 2012 was such a bonanza year for FX, at least no other 'small body' FX, 2) D800 sales are leveling off (not unexpected,) and 3) D600 sales are perhaps weaker than expected.  #3 could be because of the dust/oil issue, or the fact that so many people bought the D800 out of the gate.

He then goes on to predict a bunch of new FX glass from Nikon.

Keep in mind one of his recent articles was about divesting himself personally from DX DSLR, because FX DSLR and MILC combo provide everything he needs.
