Complete newbie to astrophotography... but with a lot of lenses

Sorry I can't help (beyond what the others have pointed out), I do have a question back. As someone quite interested in the Sigma 30 how difficult is it to find infinity focus and keep it there? I know there's a trick where you can turn the camera off and turn it back on to "zero" it at infinity -- how accurate is that?
