The 15-85 is an excellent lens for all around photography, including "close-up", but it isn't a macro lens at all.
The EF-S 60mm is one of Canon's very best lenses at any price. It actually goes to 1.1X slightly larger than life size on the sensor. I used it quite a lot before getting the 100L for use on full frame. I still miss it, but it was redundant and I use FF now and the 60D is my "fun" camera.
Get the 60 Macro! You'll be very pleased and that's a great combo.
