If the X Pro1 and XE1 are almost at the same price...

Taking price out of the equation. If size is an issue, you don't mind shooting with an LCD and you shoot well above 50mm (equiv) over 50% of the time, then go with the XE1. If you don't mind the slightly larger size of the Xpro1 and want a VF go with the Xpro1. The Xpro1's VF is has a magnifying lens on it so when you attach a longer lens it's not such a tiny box. It's not perfect, but it works. The OVF is very well suited for 50mm and below.

95% of my shooting when I'm just walking around or on vacation has always been between 24mm and 50mm so the Xpro1 will cover that nicely once all the road map lenses are released. Professionally is different story, but that's where my DSLR comes in. What the Xpro gives me is uncompromising image quality in a smaller body and it doubles as an inexpensive backup system in my bag.
