The retail price in Europe is around 80 euros while in the US you get it for $49, that's less than half.
I'm not sure what the recommended price in Austria is, but I do know that the particular store where I bought it generally charges full price for everything. While expensive, they also have a great selection and very helpful sales people. I pay a slight premium there, but like to support good, local brick and mortar businesses.
I was surprised and disappointed by the price, but decided 80 Euros was OK for a novelty. Since I got into m43 with my OMD at the end of April, I've been buying, on average, one new lens per month. Honestly, I've spent a lot more than I had originally planned to spend this year on photo equipment (Panasonic 100-300 will arrive shortly, to boot). The 15mm f/8 was a relatively cheap 'fix' between more expensive lenses, if you catch my drift. It's a fun little novelty, but I wish I'd gotten it for $49.
Getting it for $49 through Oly seems to mean you have to wait an unreasonable time to receive it. Order placed Sept. 15th, wrote to Oly in October to be told there's a backorder and they couldn't provide an ETA. I don't mind the wait, as this is a novelty item afaic, but at this point seeing that it's been available in stores for weeks now it's somewhat. . . disrespectful. Anyway, there's the trade off in price.
