Canon 17-55 problem

I have been using a 17-55 on my 7D for some time and it produces very good images however it has developed a problem. When I tilt the camera downwards the lens barrel slides out at any setting beyond about 24mm so it cant't hold any zoom between 24mm and 55mm. Have others experienced this problem and can it be fixed and if so at what price in the UK?
