Bad day at the beach

This was at Virginia Beach, Virginia.  I got up early to try some morning beach shots with ND filter and a vintage 1977 tripod.  The weather report said 24mph winds but that wind was beating the crap out of me, it felt like at least 60mph (I should have just gone back to bed).  After I planted my tripod in the sand a strong gust of wind made me cover my face for protection from the grit.  When I opened my eyes I saw the tripod and GXR airborn, and faceplant in the sand.  Thank goodness the wind wasn't blowing in the direction of the water!  So this is my sand encrusted GXR and then a shot of my little niece from later in the day when conditions were more pleasant and the camera had a careful cleaning.
