I know little about how companies resolve these types of issues. What you've stated above does make sense to me, especially after reading many of the posts, none of which mention any problems with the camera. It doesn't seem it has affected the use of the camera thus far.

However, I do think regardless if Oly decides to repair the cameras affected or not, they most likely will be sure that future batches will not include the crack. So, if nothing else, this will bring down the resale value of the affected cameras for those who might choose to upgrade - or sell - their camera in the future.
