White balance in Aperture changes file size drastically?

I was reviewing some photos I took recently and noticed that my file size was roughly cut in half when I changed from the white balance setting in Aperture from Auto (as shot) to Daylight.  The picture looks fine, but why would one simple change eliminate half the photo size?
