OMD: Can I take the same pictures with the 12mm f2.0 and the 17mm f1.8 ?

Simple answer: I got the OM-D because I wanted a more powerful camera, less shutter lag, faster autofocus. I like to take my pictures fast, because when I see something on the street that I want to capture, there is usually a 1 or 2 second window to get the shot. Same thing when i'm taking a picture of my 1-yo niece. She will not hold a pose for more than 2-3 seconds. The shutter lag on my previous camera, the Canon s100, just doesn't lend itself to this kind of situation.
