Would you buy an X100 now?

There are bold and obvious differences here that only you can sort for your needs. Either is going to be a winner.

Well, there goes my best suggestion out the window.

It will beat the pants off of the EPL1 in low light, but it is a "quirky" camera in its own right according to many. I think it is a joy personally.

Since its not a rf camera, a the only real advantage you have is that you understand the shifting frame lines and such due to parallax. The focusing is its own different method. Still pretty reliable once you are used to it. Make your decision quick so you have a few days at least to understand it fully prior to your trip.

Its never a bad time to have an X100.
