We see that repeatedly in most forum discussions of photographs, and it is a gross impediment to many people's ability to understand what makes a photograph good.

On my first look at that image, I couldn't see anything that I liked about it, and was kind of left wondering "What was his point?" That is a lot different than "crap", and when that comment was posted I realized that it came from essentially to same feeling that I had about the image, but it was also channeled through excessive arrogance and this idea, as you have recognized very well, that people mistake "I like" for "good photograpy".

However, it is an interesting shot. I notice the bird has bands on it's legs, and would be interested in anyone can explain what they mean.
