Are you seeing the extreme watercolor effect in OOF areas?  The shot Dave V had posted does have the extreme watercolor effect which I'm not debating, however it also appears to of been shot at F5.6 which would have a fairly limited DoF at Infinity..

Here is 100% crop derived from his RAF file from an area within the DoF. I'm not seeing the watercolor effect in SilkyPix or Lightroom4

Yes, there is definitely an issue in the raw conversion, but again I ask the question. If you are going to print large landscapes, you would want as much detail as possible and stopping down the lens would achieve that detail.
