Hello All --
I asked a portait lens question in the FX forum but just realized I should have
posted it here. Nice people have helped me narrow down to Nikon 85mm/1.8 AF-S from a long list, but I want to have a final verdict for Nikon 85mm/1.8 AF-S vs. | Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 | and |Tokina AF 100mm f/2.8|.
I have the D600 24-85mm kit and would like to invest around $500 on my first fixed lens for portait and macro (ideally for both). For portrait I mostly do head and shoulder with blurred background so I use mostly the 85mm end of my 24-85 lens.
Interestling, I note that most f/1.8 lenses are not marked with "Micro / Macro" while most f/2.8 lenses have "Micro / Macro" in the title -- this triggers the question if getting a f/2.8 would allow me do both portait and macro, so f/2.8 is better than f/1.8? Or Nikon 85mm/1.8 can actually do both?
The reviews for these 3 lenses are all very good, so your thoughts (or vote for me)?
$499 Nikon 85mm f/1.8G AF-S NIKKOR Lens
$449 Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di SP AF/MF 1:1 Macro Lens
$489 Tokina AF 100mm f/2.8 AT-X M100 Pro D Macro Lens
I really can't wait and really appreciate your thoughts to help me get my first fixed lens (again, ideally for both portait and macro)!
Best,
Kevin
