I remember one Pentax SR test on DPR where the subject distance was only a few feet away. Stabilisation on nearly all cameras doesn't work for camera movement perpendicular to the camera to subject axis, only angular rotation, and at close distance perpendicular movement has a proportionately much larger effect than angular movement. So DPR's test would have given worst case results apart from with macro where stabiliation hardly works at all. Most owners seemed to get at least a stop better results than DPR did, probably because most shots were at greater distances than used in DPR's test.
