Hi John,

just wanted to thank you for sharing your real life experience of actually owning and using both cameras professionally. In this entire discussion there is only two people who seem to own both camera. Everyone else makes up conclusions based on other things.

After having owned many different SLRs I'm not surprised. The top line Nikon cameras have always had an edge in terms of AF performance regardless of using the exact same AF sensor module.

I'm also always very skeptical when people do tests on AF speed. They think the time it takes for an AF to go from near distance to infinity was the only important factor. In my experience that speed has little to do which how many in-focus photos you will get.As you said in another post, with one camera you get a good yield, with another you are more hit and miss even though both focus the lens at the same speed.
