I have had your problem and several other problems with Windows 8. Windows 8 was very unstable. It caused problems in photoshop. It was so bad that I had to do a clean reinstall on Windows 7. Things work OK now but in the process I lost all my programs and had to reinstall everything. No more Windows 8 for me.
