Epson r1900 and Windows 8

Last week I had to replace my dead PC with a Dell XPS 8500 Special Edition, containing Windows 8. Finally got everything installed, Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 4.2 included. I went to Epson's website and read how to install 1900 on Windows 8. However, my prints are turning out so inconsistent. I calibrated the monitor, but that didn't help. Sometimes the prints turn out 'ok' and sometimes they are so murky and dark. I have tried letting Photoshop control the printer, letting the printer control, different profiles and it just isn't good. I tried printing from Lightroom, but that was even worse. To test, I printed from my laptop with Windows 7/Photoshop and exceptional photos with the Epson printer. I also used my new PC to print to my HP all-in-one and those pictures turn out great. So it has to be the printer and Windows 8.
Has anyone encountered print problems with Windows 8?
Thanks!
