Is the D800 now really Safe????

I have a nice focusing D800 and my friends also have early D800s without AF issues.

But later in the summer I ordered a 2nd D800 and it could not AF to save it's life. I returned it and was trigger-shy to get another.

I'm thinking of getting a 2nd body again, but I don't like the D600. So is the D800 AF issue now a thing of the past or are they still shipping out units with the issue. Please reply ONLY if you have applicable info.
