D600 motor ok for 80-200 f/2.8D ED?

Hi,

I am planning on getting a new AF 80-200 f/2.8D ED for my D600 for kids sports.

I read somewhere that the camera body has to drive the auto focus for this lens.

Is the D600 adequate to drive this lens?  Has anyone had any experience with this combination?

I'm only interested in the current version of this lens.
