I've only just got my RX100 so I don't have enough experience to give a definitive answer, but I tried a few very low light shots last night at 1/6, 1/8 and 1/10 of a second, and they all came out sharp. I don't believe that I have particularly steady hands; I was holding the camera as steady as I could. I almost never got a blurry shot from my Canon S95, and so far I haven't from the RX100. I really can't tell at the moment if the RX100's stabiliser is any less effective. I guess if you're taking photos at really slow shutter speeds it pays to take a few just in case, not matter how good your image stabiliser.
