actually pretty easy - but certainly not intuitive...  The 1Dsiii had a nice interface on the cam body in a little lcd screen.  The 5Diii should have it all right there in the menu option to delete images - toggle to either or both cards.

Much better if they had an option to delete related JPEG & RAW files at the same time, even if they are on separate cards.

As for myself, I have an eye-fi card in the SD slot, and only save small JPEGs to it for wireless downloading to my ipad, for reviewing and checking focus, etc. I will occasionally cull RAW shots from the CF card to free up space, but as far as the SD card goes, I'll just format the whole thing. I never save the JPEGs to my computer, anyway.

Funny - that is exactly my work flow too.
