Around 20 months ago I had pre-ordered the X100, and before getting a chance to pick it up and use it, decided to sell my Nikon D300s and 5 lenses.  I knew I'd love it.  I shot 90% of my photos with a single 50 mm equivalent prime, 5% with another prime, and 5% with the other 3 lenses, all of which were excellent.  The X100 is tiny, and had a focal length I was comfortable using, so I knew I'd love it, quirks be damned.

I bought an X-Pro 1 because it was being sold at a great price.

It certainly can replace an SLR, depending on what and how you shoot.

Depending on what you shoot, means you didn't need the SLR to begin with. Not saying anything about your photography and please don't take it personally. I have dozens of friends who have bought the latest and greatest dSLR rigs and shoot jpegs in P Mode. I have a 1D2 and a 5D2 and each has it's place. I wouldn't choose the 5d2 over the 1D for sports nor would I choose the 1D2 for studio.

They are both specialized tools.

Before these mirrorless cameras existed, anybody who wanted excellent image quality and a choice of lenses had to go with a DSLR. To say that someone didn't "need" a DSLR to begin with is demeaning to anybody who just wants to take a quality photo. No matter what you say, some things just aren't possible without a large sensor camera.
