Why did you buy an X series???

I disagree with parts, and agree with parts, of the original post.  For many people this is a DSLR replacement.  And as such AF becomes reasonably important.

My journey to an X series camera began with the birth of a child.  At that time I was using a Nikon D2X and a bunch of fast glass.  Getting it and using it was problematic when also being a parent.  Bad P&Ss became the go to camera.

I bought an EP2.  I really liked it.  I tried hiking with it.  Excellent!  The Nikon stuff gathered dust - even when I went to Yellowstone (it came for the flight) it remained unused.  I bought an OMD.  Love it.

I nevertheless remained intrigued by the Fuji offerings.  About three months ago I bought an X100.  I've now hauled it, alongside the OMD, to mountaintops in the Smokies to the Central Park playground.  As a late adaptor I missed all those quirks that drove some insane.  I really really enjoy using it.

Last week I got an unexpectedly large refund from an auto trade.  Hmmmm...  The X Pro discounts were gone.  Very sad.  New X Pro discounts!  Yes.  Ordered Sunday from Amazon when my local shop had none is stock.  Got it on Monday somehow (I still don't understand how they shipped Sunday night - never seen that before).

X series cameras satisfy a certain inner joy.  Yes, they have limitations.  But while my OMD will remain #1, the X series will just be more fun to use.  This is not to say that the OMD isn't fun, but IMHO its like driving stick verses driving an automatic.  They will both get you there, but the stick can be a lot more fun to drive.  Just understand the limitations.
