Google Nexus 7 Root or not?

Probable most of this question has been asked before.
I am a fairly new Nexus 7 tablet owner. Recently the tablet updated itself to version 4.2
It does every thing I expected it to do. I purchased it primarily to show my pictures to others, the display is just right as far as color and resultion, size is what I wanted for transport.
I have added a cable that allows data transfer from my card reader and USB flash drives. .
Recently with the help of one of our forum members here, I managed to install the APPs "Android File Manager Pro" and the APP "QuickPic". I now have a large slide show of my nephews baby from the time of the birth to date and continues today. Works like a charm.
I have been looking at a lot of the WEB posts that have to do with the Nexus 7 and have stumbled across the "Root or not to Root", After reading a few of the how to accomplish un-locking and rooting, I have this question "Do I want to do this"? What is your take on this?
The other problem that may exist is that of the Nexus Root Tool Kit. Will it work on the latest version 4.2 of Jelly Bean?
