Nikon D800 AF sometimes hesitant?

Upgraded from D3 to D800.  Love the D800 images. No complaint.

However, noted that acquiring focus sometimes hesitant.  Using same lens was using on D3, that is 24-70mm f2.8.

anyone had same experience?  How did you try to resolve this?

(I use AF-ON for focusing)
