RX-100 samples: Too bad corner sharpness, purple fringing?

I know this topic has been beaten to death here, but I'd like to get your opinion whether my RX-100 is "acceptable" or a victim of sample variation.
After looking at some test shots [1] (straight out of camera, full size) at 100% size, I was quite unimpressed with the lack of corner sharpness (especially in the bottom left corner, but also bottom right corner and left edge). When returning the camera, it was sent to the local Sony service and found to be "within specification". The store made a similar statement.
Note that the shots were taken in good lighting mostly at the far end of the focal range stopped down to f 7.1 - f 8. Focused to "infinity", even objects far away are quite blurry in the corners. For example, check out the bottom left corner in _DSC0018.JPG or _DSC0082.JPG, which I find really blurry, especially at 100% size. There's also some purple fringing going in the last three shots (with clean lens, and the sun not directly in the picture).
What do you think? Is the optical quality in the corners acceptable? Do you have any tips to obtain sharp corners with the RX-100 and avoid purple fringing?
Thanks,
Jorg
