There is no reason why Red River would need a dye only compatible paper, most microporous papers will print perfectly with dye inks and pigment inks but the dye inks will not last long on papers like that. RR is not really a champion for print longevity, exception the Aurora Naural. For some dye inks that have better longevity like Epson Claria, HP Vivera dye, you would use the most compatible OEM media as the combinations give that fade resistance. Swellable inkjet coatings used to be best for dye ink longevity but showed problems in drying so other methods to get dye ink longevity with inkjet papers have been developed. Right now I have about 8 swellable coated media on a total of 500 media measured and that number is not increasing, used to be more when Ilford still made them.
