how to light a painting to shoot a photo

Thanks guys.  I started by using the two lights at 45 degrees and metered them but it looked terrible with lots of glare even though I tilted the painting.  Anyway, a long story short.  I ended up with clam shell lighting (softbox on top coming down and on bottom going up.  I just feathered the light on both ends.  So actually the softboxes were facing straight and got featered light on the painting.  Worked pretty well.   Images attached.
